Pediatric CranioSacral Therapy (Age 2-12)
Children love the opportunity to let their bodies self-correct and heal naturally, given proper support. Whether a child's issues originates from prolonged compression in utero, the birthing process, or genetic/developmental abnormalities, manual therapy can help. Sessions are gentle, relaxing and therefore enjoyable for children. I use a light touch and provide a safe, nurturing atmosphere. Children often become calm and may fall asleep during the session.
In addition to CranioSacral therapy, I often incorporate sensory input to help children's bodies feel comfortable and better integrate the work (i.e., if deep pressure is soothing I will put weighted pillows on the child's body).
It is important to make sure that each child's needs are approached in all areas of care, therefore I work closely with physical, occupational and speech/language/feeding therapists as well as teachers, psychologists, acupuncturists, nutritionists, homeopaths and other specialists, to ensure that therapy is integrated and maximized.
